This beta is about realistic plants made from photographs: apple trees, hops and grapevines in Studio's own X-Plane 12 forests now have individual leaves and blossoms that move in the wind and follow the seasons.
What's new
Apple trees from photos – an orchard with Apple – slender spindle or Apple – standard tree now uses individual leaves from photographs instead of flat cards, each with a petiole and its own wind. The crown is made of branches and thin twigs filling the whole volume.
Seasons – in spring the tree is all white and the blossom gradually turns into leaves, in summer it carries small apples, in autumn large apples and leaves in several colours, and in winter a pruned tree remains.
Hops from photos – leaves and cones from photographs, smaller simple leaves on the side shoots, cones hanging like grape bunches.
Colours at a distance – apple and hop forests keep the colour of their leaves as you move away and no longer turn red or brown.
Older projects with a vineyard – a new vineyard can be added to an older project without the message that the part already exists with different content.
Also since the previous version: vineyards, hop yards and orchards in the Library, the performance meter, the building kit and large buildings, sharp DDS textures.
Known limitations
Apple trees bloom for the whole X-Plane spring period, so from mid-March on – the simulator sets the date.
Apple trees are heavy on performance (a spindle about 50,000 triangles per tree, a standard tree about 170,000). For large areas consider a wider spacing and check the performance in X-Plane.
Hops look too bright green from far away in spring and summer.
